“We get all kinds of films submitted to us. We currently have 900 hours worth of films and documentaries to go through. Our criteria in accepting a movie are that it be a quality film and be well made,” Skopinsky said.
Ruggiero’s drama and love story fits that bill, he said.
Those are the words of Art Skopinsky, President of Monarch Films and that's no easy feat!
As Elizabeth Fisher of the Courier Times reported, "That’s no easy feat for an independent film not featuring big name stars, said president of Monarch, Art Skopinsky. Some of the successful films and documentaries submitted to Monarch include shows like “Klondike,” “Devil’s Bay” and “Quest for Gold,” which appeared on the History Channel."
You can read the entire article on the Courier Times website.
We are obviously very excited about the most recent developments for A Rose On Ninth Street, the movie and will be sure to keep you up to date as the story continues to play out!
In the meantime why not check out the novel as a nice primer for the movie. We highly suggest enjoying both!

A Rose On Ninth Street, the Movie Based on Joe's Novel
A Rose On Ninth Street is on the move. This is my first attempt of writing and producing an independent film, based on my first novel. Directed and co- produced by Dwight Wilkins , a rose on ninth street will entertain you, keep you in suspense, bring tears to your eyes and arouse your deepest emotions . There is something for every one in this film of family conflict, alcoholism, criminal activity, love and the need for redemption, forgiveness and transformation.
We at W and R Productions, LLC have chosen to partner with Churches, Schools, and non profit organizations to fund raise for charity, recoup funds and show the film. It is challenging not only make an independent film but to get it distributed as well. But , I believe that we should not put ourselves in a box by only looking at traditional ways to accomplish our goals. We must think out side the box.
It is a privilege to show our film while raising money for charity.
We are also beginning to get some press and there will be more of that too! Please check out our Press Page for the latest news on A Rose On Ninth Street
Thank you for your support! Enjoy the movie!
Until then enjoy the trailer as a nice appetizer!
